Our kids have been enjoying the series of influential scientists (Dr. Temple Grandin, Dr. Patricia Bath) and we were excited to read the next book in the Innovation Press (http://www.theinnovationpress.com/) series, The Girl with a Mind for Math: Raye Montague.  These biographies are done in a creative way, with so much information about the person’s life, their accomplishments and how they contributed to the advancement of science.   The true test of a good book is that we have bought several copies of this series to give to friends!

Directions

  • After reading the book, print your very own submarine.  How would you design the interior of the ship?  What kinds of spaces do you think would be used if you were submariner?  Sketch them out with a pencil, trace them in thin, permanent marker and then colour them in if you like!
