A fun surprise to enjoy together!

Materials

Movie Night Treat Topper: Supplies from make-it-your-own.com (printable included!)

  • Cardstock
  • Printer
  • Candy or dried fruit
  • Popcorn
  • Paper bag or plastic loot sized bag (you can find these in dollar and party stores)
  • Printout of the Movie Night Treat Topper movie_night_treats_topper_template
  • Pencil, eraser, pencil crayons, markers etc.
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (optional to close bags)
  • Twist Ties (to close bags under the ribbon)

Directions

  • Print out the Movie Night Treat Topper.  (We used cardstock)
  • Personalize it with a message, drawing or the name of the title you want to watch together.  We included two in case you would like to make more than one.

  • Cut the topper out and fold along the middle, dotted line.

  • Fill your bag with a container/bag of popcorn and your children’s favourite treats (candy, dried fruits etc.).

  • Fold over the top of your bag and staple it shut with the topper on as shown.

  • Surprise your children with bag and let them “cash it in” on a rainy day for some family fun.  OR surprise your spouse/partner with the package when your children have gone to bed! (That is why we included two!)  You could even add a follow-up thing to do based on the movie (such as LEGO for The LEGO Movie).

Safety Notes

  • Many organizations recommend that children under the age of five do not eat popcorn or hard candy as they are choking hazards.
  • Be sure to directly supervise children directly while eating these types of snacks.
  • Exercise caution when using a stapler, scissors.
