We have seen several floral loose part activities as of late and wanted to create our own using spare wooden parts! Experiment with patterning and symmetry to create your own, unique florals! Materials Wooden parts (Dowels, pegs, dowel ends, shapes etc. You can often purchase mixed bags of wood parts) Paint Paint brushes Organizing container Drying rack We always find these items helpful too: Directions Paint your wooden parts and allow them to dry overnight. Put them in a tray to organize them. Use your loose parts to design your flowers on a large surface such as table, play mat or section of felt. This is an opportunity to use concepts like symmetry, patterning etc. PIN THIS IDEA: Purpose Arranging loose parts allows you explore design concepts along with mathematical ideas such as symmetry, patterning etc. Safety Notes We suggest that you use a tray and a smock to protect your clothing and surfaces. Small parts such as beads can be a choking hazard, therefore be sure to keep them out of the reach of children ages 0-3 years of age or those that tend to put things into their mouths. If there were ones that you wanted the directions for, I would be happy to copy and email them to you. If you email me (Bonnie) at bonnie@galen.ca. Sorry for the inconvenience! However, it was really heart warming that you want to do the projects with your granddaughter- our kids will be SO happy to hear that!
