This is a great way to use up scraps of ribbon, fabric, rick-rack etc.

Materials

  • Ribbon
  • Fabric
  • Bias tape
  • Rick-rack
  • Lace (for younger children you may want to use something with a magnetic release clasp for safety reasons)
  • Fabric scissors

Directions

  • Cut your ribbon, fabric scraps etc. and make loops as shown by folding them over so that they are equal on each side.
  • Put them over top of your lace, cord etc., leaving a hole up at the top.

  • Pull the two ends through the hole, coming up from the bottom.

  • Repeat until you have reached a desired fullness.
  • Trim the ends of your ribbon, fabric etc.

  • Tie the end of your laces together and enjoy!

Purpose

  • Re-using/ re-imagining materials for a new use.

Safety Notes

  • A lace can be a strangulation hazard- use with direct supervision.
  • Remove your necklace for play (e.g., at the playground) for this reason.
